Breakthrough Competitive Intelligence, Inc., which does business as BCI (“BCI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.bciadvantage.com (the “Website”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
This Policy covers visitors to our Website. It does not govern the information we process for our clients under separate engagement agreements in the course of delivering our services.
1. The Short Version

• The information we collect from you is used to operate our Website and to respond to you when you contact us.
• We do not currently use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not sell your personal data.
• If that changes, we will update this Policy and its Effective Date before the new practice begins.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide voluntarily. When you use our contact form, email us, or send us your résumé in response to a career posting, we collect the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, telephone number, employer, and the contents of your message or application materials.
b. Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web server automatically logs limited technical information when you visit, which may include your IP address, browser type and operating system, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, and the website you came from. We use this information for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the Website working.
c. Cookies. We currently use only strictly necessary (essential) cookies — small text files required for basic functions such as submitting our contact form and maintaining site security. We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though some features may not work if you do.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and our Website is not directed to children.

3. How We Use Information

Today, we use the information above to:

• Operate, secure, and improve the Website.
• Respond to your inquiries and provide requested information.
• Evaluate résumés and applications you send us.
• Comply with law and protect our legal rights.

4. Planned Future Uses

We may, in the future, adopt one or more of the practices below. We will not begin any of these until we have updated this Policy (with a new Effective Date) and, where required, obtained your consent or provided an opt-out.

• Email communications and newsletters — sending updates or marketing to people who provide their email address, with an unsubscribe link in every message.
• Advertising and retargeting pixels — showing relevant ads on other platforms and measuring their performance.
• CRM enrichment — supplementing contact records with business information to manage our client and prospect relationships.

5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only:

• To service providers who host our Website or process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, and only as needed to perform those services.
• To comply with law, legal process, or lawful government requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of BCI or others.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal data.

6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — to respond to your inquiry, evaluate your application, or meet legal, tax, or recordkeeping obligations — and then delete or de-identify it.
7. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, and we limit access to those with a business need. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, including for information sent to us by email.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of certain processing such as sales, targeted advertising, or profiling. BCI does not engage in those activities today.

We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (under Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, within 45 days, with one permitted 45-day extension). If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if you have concerns about our response, you may contact the Virginia Office of the Attorney General.
9. Visitors Outside the United States
BCI is based in the United States and operates the Website from the U.S. If you access the Website from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes take effect when we post the revised Policy and update the Effective Date above. We encourage you to review it periodically.
